VIC: Cricket should be more ethnically diverse

Federal Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Minister PHILIP RUDDOCK says cricket in
Australia should be more ethnically diverse and include the country's multicultural community.

While attending an Adult Migrant English Program conference in Melbourne, Mr RUDDOCK said
the sport should include people from outside its traditional countries.

Mr RUDDOCK says he'll be asking the Australian Cricket Board to recruit young people to
cricket from the multicultural community.

He says the move will mean cricket won't just be a Sri Lankan, Indian, Pakistani, West
Indian, Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom competition.
