Fed: PM challenges Beazley to rule out ditching health rebate

CANBERRA, Feb 22 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard today challenged Opposition Leader
Kim Beazley to rule out scrapping the 30 per cent private health insurance rebate to fund
Labor's promised GST roll-back.

Labor has attacked the rebate as a waste of money, although it could be an alternative
to lifting income tax or cutting into the budget surplus as ways to fund the roll-back.

Mr Howard said Labor should speak up now if it planned to ditch the rebate.
